The C-SAT Communicator is a smart, multiWAN, maritime router.
It manages all available on-board Internet gateways (VSAT, 4G/3G, WiFi, Fleet Broadband…) and provides connectivity to everybody using a simple and intuitive web interface.
Each person on-board has different needs and privileges, that’s why the Communicator can provide distinct browsing for any user. Enabling different Internet connection methods at the same time, Communicator provides a specific list of allowed Internet gateways to each user group (profiling mode). Failover is guaranteed on each list.
As an example, despite being all connected to the same on-board network (no VLANs needed), Owner and Captain can enjoy a Ka-band VSAT high speed, while Guests can be connected to the Internet using the 4G network and crew using the marine WiFi signal, in order not to slow down the other users. Having users grouped under different “profiles” means also that a “category”, like crew for example, can be blocked on the fly simple pressing a button.
Traffic data from each connected device is available in real time in order to keep broadband usage under control. In case of need, even the single device congesting the network can be easily blocked.
Furthermore, it is possible to establish a traffic threshold for each gateway and decide whether to send a warning message once it is reached or block automatically the connection, thus maintaining costs under control.
Among the most interesting functions of the Communicator there’s the system remote access that allows you to call for assistance whichever the used connection might be. This means that on-board any technological device, with an Internet interface is now reachable remotely from a specialized technician for diagnosing and assistance.
